1. Who we are
My Destiny Inc is a faith-rooted leadership, mentoring and impact organisation founded in 2004 and based in the United Kingdom. In this notice "we", "us" and "our" refer to My Destiny Inc. For any privacy question, you can reach us at info@mydestinyinc.org.
We are the data controller for the personal information described below.
2. The information we collect
We only collect what we genuinely need. Depending on how you interact with us, that may include:
- Contact details such as your name, email address and (if you choose to share it) phone number.
- Enquiry information you send through our contact form, including the area of interest, your message and any context you provide.
- Programme and event details such as the programme or pathway you are interested in, attendance and progress notes where relevant.
- Newsletter sign-up details (your email address) if you ask to receive updates.
- Donation information handled by our payment partner. We do not see or store full card details.
- Technical information such as device type, browser, approximate location from IP and basic analytics about how the site is used.
We do not knowingly collect special category data (for example health, religious or political information) through web forms. Please do not include sensitive personal details in free-text messages unless they are necessary for your enquiry.
3. Why we use your information and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
- Consent. For newsletter sign-up, optional cookies and any marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests. To respond to enquiries, run our programmes, keep the site secure and improve what we offer. We balance this against your rights and never use your data in a way you would not reasonably expect.
- Contract. Where you have signed up for a paid programme, course or event, we use your information to deliver it.
- Legal obligation. For accounting, tax, Gift Aid and safeguarding records where required.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with trusted providers that help us run the work, including:
- Website hosting and infrastructure providers.
- Email delivery and newsletter tools used for enquiries and updates.
- Payment processors for donations and paid programmes.
- Analytics tools that help us understand how the site is used.
- Professional advisers (for example accountants or legal advisers) where necessary.
- Regulators or law enforcement where we are required to by law.
Some of these providers may be based outside the UK. Where that is the case, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or adequacy decisions made by the UK government.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, plus any period required by law. As a guide:
- Enquiries that do not become a relationship: up to 24 months.
- Programme and mentoring participants: for the duration of the engagement plus 6 years for our records.
- Donation and Gift Aid records: at least 7 years, in line with HMRC requirements.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove your details.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your information.
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information where there is no good reason for us to keep it.
- Object to or restrict how we use your information in certain situations.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
- Ask us to transfer your information to another provider where that is technically possible.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@mydestinyinc.org. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
7. How to complain
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information safe. That includes encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, vetted providers and a small, accountable team. No system is perfect, so please use a strong, unique password for any account you create with us and let us know straight away if you think something is wrong.
9. Children
Our website is not aimed at children under 13. Where young people take part in our programmes, we work with parents, guardians and partner organisations and follow our safeguarding commitments.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. When we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know directly.
